At Shift Rite Transmissions, we’ve got you covered with our standard 1-year 36,000-mile transmission warranty when you purchase a new torque converter, giving you peace of mind from the start. For even greater protection, we offer upgraded warranty options: a 2-year, 50,000-mile warranty and a 3-year, 100,000-mile warranty, available for an additional cost. What’s even better? You don’t have to decide right away! You can upgrade your warranty at any time during your original 1-year coverage period. Stay protected for longer, on your terms.

At Shift Rite Transmissions, we want to ensure your transmission performs at its best! Our warranty covers everything under normal use, but it won’t cover damage to cases or shafts caused by misuse, abuse, or burn down due to operator error. For the warranty to remain valid, all warranty-related work must be completed at our facility in Kankakee, IL. The vehicle owner is responsible for shipping the transmission or vehicle to us for any necessary repairs. Please note that any unauthorized repairs made to the transmission will void the warranty. Please note that our warranty is non-transferable. We’re here to support you and keep your transmission in top shape!

Buyer pays the core deposit up front. The core must have no internal hard-part or case damage. Damage is deducted from the core refund.

Outbound shipping is one-way only. Return freight is not included.

Shipped orders: A flat $400 return-freight fee is deducted from the core refund after the core passes inspection. If the core charge is $400 or less, do not ship the core back — after freight there is little or nothing left to refund.

Local pickup / shop drop-off: The $400 freight fee does not apply. Return the core at our shop.

All cores that are being returned must be received within 30 days of purchase. See our Core Return page for details.

Majority of units are in stock, in the unlikely case we do not have one in stock, they are quickly available, in most cases, as little as one business day. There are many different variations of this transmission model available so please make sure we get a VIN number when or after you place the order.

10R140 BUILD PARTS LIST

This is not a clutch-and-gasket refresh. These are the parts we put in because this is where 10R140s actually fail in Super Duty service.

Clutches, steels & seals

  • Raybestos or OEM clutch set
  • Raybestos steels
  • Complete overhaul kit
  • New bonded pistons
  • OEM transmission filter

Ford hardware updates (the ones that prevent a comeback)

  • New updated Ford CDF drum
  • New updated Ford E clutch feed hub and shim

Sonnax hydraulic updates

  • Sonnax clutch control plunger valve & sleeve kit
  • Sonnax solenoid stabilization clip insert
  • Sonnax TCC signal damper piston kit
  • Sonnax oversized main pressure regulator valve kit

Later-model PC3P valve bodies use different Sonnax applications. We match the kit to the casting — we don’t force an early kit into a late unit.

10R140 UPDATES — WHY THESE, NOT A GENERIC REBUILD

Most “rebuilt 10R140” listings stop at new frictions. That does not fix the two problems that kill these units: the CDF sleeve walking in the drum, and valve-body wear dumping pressure. We correct both.

Updated Ford CDF drum
The original CDF drum lets the feed bushing walk in the bore. When it moves, apply oil for C/D/F circuits leaks off. Result: flare, bind, ratio codes, burnt clutches, and a unit that feels like a valve-body problem when the drum is already dead.
Ford’s later drum adds a retaining shoulder so the bushing cannot shift. We install the updated drum — not the early drum, not a “looks fine, reuse it” call.

Updated Ford E clutch feed hub & shim
E clutch is on in the higher gears and takes a beating under load and tow. Ford released an updated hub and added a washer that was not in the original stack. We install the current hub and shim so the feed and end-play are set to the later spec, not the first-design stack.

Sonnax TCC signal damper piston kit
TCC signal dampers smooth solenoid pressure before it hits the TCC control valve. When the bore or piston wears, that signal leaks. You get TCC apply/release problems, shudder, converter heat, and codes — and a lot of shops replace the whole valve body for it.
This kit is a drop-in O-ringed sleeve and hardcoat piston. No ream. Seals even in a worn bore. That is the difference between “converter still shudders after rebuild” and lockup that actually stays applied.

Sonnax oversized main pressure regulator valve kit
PR bore wear and a short outboard spool are common on these valve bodies. Line-pressure signal leaks to exhaust. You get late engagement, sloppy shifts, and cooked clutches even with new frictions.
The Sonnax valve uses an outboard spool about 270% longer than OE, an O-ringed end plug, hardcoat aluminum, and annular grooves to keep the valve centered. Line pressure stays controlled in every range instead of leaking off the end of a worn OE spool.

Sonnax clutch control plunger & solenoid clip
Stabilizes solenoid control and clutch-control circuits that get sloppy with heat and miles. Cheap rebuilds leave the original worn valves in and then blame the clutches.

Needed a transmission for my dodge 5500. They shipped it quickly to my mechanic then let me bring the core in since I was going to be in the area, so I didn’t have to spend a bunch on shipping to get my core deposit back! Molly is the best to deal with! Can’t go wrong with them!

The owner was very involved with my 4l80e swap. Had an internal harness connector o-ring leak they helped me resolve to prevent fluid from leaching up into the main input harness. After that the trans performed flawlessly. Great communications and shipping crate professionally done. I will use them again I am sure. I would proudly wear a shirt or hat with their logo. Thanks team.
